5 hours ago"There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure." - Colin Powell
In navigating the complexities of today's business environment, a key insight emerges: embracing adaptability while maintaining steadfastness in our core values and goals. This duality of flexibility and stability invites progress amidst challenges, urging us toward innovative solutions without losing sight of what fundamentally drives our mission. As we encounter various shifts and transformations within the market, our firm commitment to integrity and excellence will guide us through uncertain tides towards lasting success.

19 hours agoGreat article about Facebook, AI clickbait and people's ability to discern what's real:
I use Social Fixer to read Facebook on my computer, but actually post to Facebook on my iPad. If I make the mistake of scrolling down, I'm bombarded with garbage. The more I read The Age of Surveillance Capitalism, the more I want to move away from it, but there's no good substitute yet.
19 hours agoI've officially announced my departure at work. I'm really going to miss having my day to day with so many people that communicate primarily in emoji. I've only made one custom emoji for my departure slack thread, so far.
20 hours agoFinished Panel 1 on Page 14 #CobraAnaconda
20 hours agoToo many ideas for posts, too little time/energy to actually write them all. But getting back to blogging has been fun so far.
21 hours agoFinished writing and noticed my back tire was deflated. Awesome. And my flat kit wasn’t packed back into my bag from the weekend. Pumped it up but a minute later deflated again. Thankfully didn’t bike too far from home. Walked it back and will handle it tomorrow.
22 hours agoI officially launched , my latest photography project. It's a daily photo blog built using the Scribbles platform. Only three entries so far, but more to come. Will cross-post to Mastodon as well.
22 hours agoI coordinated a statewide series of webinars for Older Americans Month with our EAP. Fridays at 10 in May. My agency even did a press release with info about it (which I guess means you’re all invited?). Today’s topic was about caring for someone with Alzheimer’s. The info is important to know, but it is also depressing to hear.
22 hours agoAging. All of us are doing it all the time, and people are living longer and healthier lives. But when I think of people going through things like Alzheimer’s my heart just breaks. It’s just not fair.
22 hours agoneed to stop making this late nights a habit... i wish you all you lovely people a good nights sleep!

1 day agoConverted all my kindle books to epub and bought some more to read on my Kobo. Today is already productive.
1 day agoOverground delayed as usual so I popped into Cafe Nero at Stratford Station for a double espresso. The coffee is worse than the overcrowded train.
1 day agoTo the list of things I’ve lost to hard drive failures, such as fifteen years of photos I discovered last year, add now my childhood Star Trek film shot by my dad, and none of this is playing well for my existential angst or death anxiety, especially when you add in shuttering my blog because it was causing me too much stress, because it all starts to feel like I am being erased.

3 days agoMy fastest run from Sunday's #autocross...
I pushed too wide on the entrance and was sloppy through the initial slalom (picking up a cone in the process), but stayed pretty even with my best clean run. I pulled ahead when I was able to carry ~1.5mph more through the last section, and finished with a 0.25s gain. And that pesky cone, which cost me the win.
All in all, a great day of racing!
3 days agoGoogle’s connected speakers and hubs are actually useful (unlike Alexa and Siri…), but it’s really hard when you’re super angry about something and have to mumble “Hey Google …” through gritted teeth. Just let us change the wake phrase.
(Yes I know some devices/command combinations don’t require a wake phrase but who has time to learn which)

1 week agoBookmaking class is so fun, I'm enjoying it so much. The mostly likely way I'll use this skill is to make sketchbooks for myself, but I was commenting in class that it can be frustrating when you have a nice sketchbook but screw up a page. Turns out our teacher has a class on that exact topic next month: techniques for covering a botched page in your sketchbook. Guess I'll be taking an art class in May, too! Oh darn. Twist my arm.
